Racial Justice Indie Game Bundle: 1000+ Games for a Good Cause
What am I going to play first? That’s the only question you’ll ask after purchasing the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality provided by Itch.io. As of this moment, 1361 designers have contributed their games and assets to this indie game bundle which is available for an insanely low $5 minimum donation. Although only available until June 16th, 2020, with it’s incredible success at raising more than $7 million dollars for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Community Bail Fund, it wouldn’t surprise us if it’s still available after this date at a potentially higher price. And well worth it, I might add!
Something for all types of Video and Tabletop gamers
The bundle contains something for everyone. In addition to award-winning indie video games, there are tabletop games, visual novels, and assets you can use in your own video game designs. The games run the gamut from 2D platformers to dating sims and everything in between. Shooters, roguelike, RPGs; they’re all there. There’s even lots of LGBTQ content with games and stories about coming out, falling in love, and being trans.
Indie Game Bundle Offers Respite from Played out Franchises
There’s a serious lack of originality in AAA gaming. They make oodles of cash off franchise reboots so there’s no real reason to deviate from formulaic games. We get the same characters, plots, and quests repackaged in shiny new skins game after game. Indie games offer totally new and sometimes off-the-wall stories, never-before-seen characters and play out in all kinds of ways. If you’ve been hesitant to try indie games because you think they’re too low-budget, I challenge you to get this bundle or a future indie game bundle and try a few out.
Get high and game
Smoke a bowl and explore some games from the Racial Justice bundle:
Death and Taxes by Placeholder Gameworks
In this 2D, narrative-based game, you’re a recently hired Grim Reaper which turns out to be an office job. You must decide which people are going to live or die. The consequences of your choices affect the world around you.
Signs of the Sojourner by Echodog Games
Signs of the Sojourner is a narrative deck-building game about connecting and communicating with others. Your deck is your character, shaped by your experiences and relationships. Different decks will lead to different narrative paths as your cards impact your ability to communicate with various characters. Rather than building the most “powerful” deck, you will have to make decisions about who you want to be in this world and how you relate to others.
Crest – An Indirect God Sim by Eat Create Sleep
Crest provides a twist on traditional god sims. In this sandbox sim, you control and guide your followers by issuing commandments written in an evolving pictographic language. How these commandments are interpreted and remembered is not set in stone. Create your own religion and progress by unlocking new words.
