Simply Pure, Denver – America’s First Black- and Female-Owned Cannabis Dispensary
Simply Pure of Denver, Colorado has the distinction of not only being the country’s first Black-owned but Black female-owned dispensary. Co-founder Wanda James is a veteran, a former Obama political advisor and prominent Black-rights activist. James was also one of the 35 Most Influential Women in Cannabis in 2020.
Wanda and her husband/business partner Scott Durrah (an executive chef and military veteran) started Simply Pure in 2010 and became one of the first successful Colorado edible companies. They cooked with whole bud and guaranteed consistent dosing by having a staff of professional certified chefs working in their commercial kitchen. All Simply Pure products are 100% organic, vegan, and gluten free.
Now, in addition to running a popular dispensary that focuses on education and patient satisfaction, Wanda and Scott produce some award winning cannabis. Their brand took home the prize for Best Flavor Champion at Colorado’s 2018 The Grow Off Competition.
