Weed and Games: Save Your Vegetable Babies in Drake Hollow
One of my favorite video games to get high and play is The Flame in the Flood from developers The Molasses Flood. While the characters may be quirky and cute, this roguelike survival game is extremely challenging as you guide a young girl and her dog through an apocalyptic flood. So when they released their latest game, Drake Hollow, I was on board right away.
Drake Hollow takes place in another dystopian land where The Feral have taken over and are terrorizing adorable little vegetable babies known as drakes. It’s your job to clean up the blight, fight off deadly ferals, and raise a new community of drakes so they can thrive once more.
Drakes have many wants and needs
In addition to exploring and battling dark creatures, your drakes are very needy. They require beds, food, drink and entertainment. They can literally die of boredom. Naturally, this is where gathering materials and crafting plays a part. Alone or with friends, you can create the drake village of your dreams. As your crafting recipes improve, you’ll add gardens, wells and other helpful structures to cut down on constantly searching out sustenance for the drakes. This lets you spend more time on the task at hand, finding new hibernating drakes and clearing out the blight.
Have Drakes, Willing to travel
As seasons change and new territories become available, you’ll take your village of drakes with you. Each territory features more an a square mile to explore and is dynamically generated making them unique each time.
Defend the Drakes
While you’re raising drakes and creating your village, you’re susceptible to attacks from The Feral. Craft deadly defenses and use creative weapons to take care of them, everything from tennis rackets to nail guns.
Play Co-Op or Solo
Add friends to your game or play solo, the choice is up to you. Unlike some co-op games, you can still enjoy Drake Hollow in single-player mode.
Coming Soon to Steam and Windows
Don’t have an Xbox One? Don’t worry. Drake Hollow will be released on Steam on October 1, 2020.
If you love smoking out and getting lost in a beautiful and unique fantasy world, give Drake Hollow a chance. Crafting, fighting and cutesy drakes are sure to take your mind off your worries.
And don’t miss out on The Flame in the Flood! Even if it’s not the typical type of game you play, I promise it’s well worth the time. Best of all, you can find it on sale on Mac, PC, XBox One, PS4 and Switch! It features an amazing original full length soundtrack by acclaimed Alt-Country rocker Chuck Ragan featuring The Camaraderie, The Fearless Kin and other special guests.
